Experiential Learning (8h)

Interprofessional Case-Based Learning

Volunteer standardized patients (interprofessional student volunteers) and/or faculty advisors will help present and facilitate each case.

  • This experiential learning will help students learn to work in an interprofessional setting when approaching complex clinical scenarios and will help students get ready for the Group Case Competition in Part 3.

Student-Organized Clinical Observerships

  • Clinical observerships will be organized by KHealth every other week at a community health clinic

  • Interprofessional students (RN, OT, PT, MD) will do observerships with their respective licensed healthcare professionals in a collaborative setting

Special Note on the 2020-2021 Academic Year: Mini-ICHP

As of November 2020, several components of the full ICHP presented above are all still in development. For those who wish to participate in the program over the 2020-2021 academic year, a “Mini-ICHP” is available.

The Mini-ICHP consists of the following components:

  • Formal Training - Complete 5h of modules or lecture/speaker talks

  • Substantive Culminating Activity - Complete an educational infographic or written reflection (5h)

Students who complete the Mini-ICHP over the 2020-2021 academic year will receive an “Introduction to Community and Street Health” certificate. If students want to/are able to continue in the program in future years, they have the option of transitioning their “Introduction To Community and Street Health” certificate into a full “Community and Street Health Advocate” certificate, as described above.

For more information, please attend the KHealth: ICHP Information Session on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 6 PM.

Submission Deadline

The deadline to complete and submit all ICHP components for the 2020-2021 school year is May 15th, 2021 at 11:59 pm. Please submit to KHealth.learning@gmail.com. Also, please ensure that you have filled out the spreadsheet. Your progress from this year will carry over to next year, even if you have not fully completed a component (i.e. 2 out of 5 hours completed will still carry over to next year).
